2 Months & Momma’s Back to Work 8/2/08

So, Nate is now 2 months old, I sure cannot believe how time has flown by, it feels like just yesterday I was pregnant and could hardly wait to hold our little guy! He had his 2 month check-up which also consists of all his immunizations. He is now 13 lbs 1 oz and 23.5 inches long!! The Pedi said he is doing great and not only is right on track but is ahead in some developmental areas… so you’re saying we have a genius, right?!?!?! Anyway, she really did say he is ahead and that truly is amazing since he is a preemie at a month early – all the baby books, the other Pedi, and research I’ve done says for a preemie you look at their actual due date for their developmental milestones and not their birthday… so he really is doing SUPER! We are so proud of him! He also showed off for the Pedi, we pulled out his new favorite toy and he laughed at it, stared at it and cooed at it, the Pedi was so impressed she literally clapped her hands and jumped up and down with excitement for him and demanded to know what toy it was, since he was so into it.

The worst and I mean absolute worst part of the visit was when he got shot 5 times with the immunizations! I couldn't bear to look but I had to hold his hands down and out of the way, so I got right next to his face to calm him, well we both cried like babies with big old alligator tears! That was the worst scream/cry I have ever heard when the nurse pricked his little chubby leg roll with the shots! Poor BABY! Look at all those boo-boo band aids...

He is doing great with tummy time, he lifts his head and can turn his head from side to side, act like he's gonna crawl, and scoot a little. If you hold him up he will use his legs to stand on you, and he will hold his head up for a long time when sitting up. He is smiling all the time, these are huge full faced smiles, and they are AMAZING! Literally his whole face lights up!! He is sleeping through the nights – he started 5 days ago at 7 hrs, then he went up to 7.5 hrs, and now he’s at 8 to 8.5 hrs at a time!! PLUS after he eats he goes right back down for the second part of his night and that’s been another 3 to 4 hrs!! WHOOHOO! And for the most amazing part, he puts himself back to sleep on the second part of his night!

So for the not so fun news… momma’s back to work. I do look forward to getting back on a routine and schedule, and back into the swing of things in real life… but I sure do miss my baby! I cried of course on the way to work today since it’s my first day to return to work. The night before I packed up photos of him, I packed the momma’s milk pump, I packed my lunch, and I really wanted to pack him away in his sling so I could carry him on me at work. Anyway, when I got to work first thing I did was set out all the beautiful photos of him all over my desk… then I looked at them at least a hundred times throughout the day! I thought about him all day long and COULD NOT WAIT TO GET HOME TO HOLD HIM, KISS those chubby cheeks, and give him a good SQUEEZE! And since they say you can’t spoil a baby before 4 months of age, hold him and cuddle him all night long till bedtime! I was surprised when I walked into work as there were lots of balloons and a chocolate chip cookie cake welcoming me back to work... my favorite dessert and in my favorite color - PINK -that was sweet!!!

In this below photo, we were going to meet Chad at a restaurant for dinner and I could not wake Nate up... he just slept on me no matter what position I held him in... it was so funny I snapped a pic:

This is his new little outfit, I absolutely love the pants, they are linen and SO PRECIOUS on him!!! The picture just does not capture the sweetness and innocence of these little linen pants! Mommy's new favorite outfit for him!!

Okay, so while I was at work daddy said Nate hit another milestone, see below... he says he grabbed his paci out of his mouth then just held it in his hand... I say it was a fluke thing since he's not supposed to grab and hold till 3 months... but then again the Pedi did say he is developing ahead of schedule :)

Okay the rest are just sweet smiles that I couldn't decide which ones to post, so I ended up putting them all in, enjoy:
Too cute:
Sticking his tongue out too:
Happy boy right before night-night time:
Okay, so this one's just in between smiles, but still cute:
Play time:
Here's one of his full faced smiles semi caught on camera... much sweeter in person!
Pretty smile!

Hard to go back to work... especially the first few days! I certainly remember. But then your new routine kicks in and life is good! He's such a cutie, Sarah! Just wait and look back on these pics in about a month or two... he'll look even different and more grown up. It's amazing!!
